A Report on a Full Night
The hardest version of this is late in the evening after a show, with a guest at the desk and no empty room to move them to. What you do in that hour is covered step by step on the London hotel treatment page for the full explanation. The local point is what you do when the house is full:
- If there is no spare room, do not put the guest in a room that has just been vacated and not yet serviced; that is the room most likely to be sold again in the morning.
- Record the room number, the time and what the guest saw, and keep anything they caught in a sealed bag or container.
- Close the reported room for the night. One lost sale costs far less than a second affected room.
- Leave a note for the morning team so the room is not stripped and serviced before it has been looked at.
A clear phone photo helps us enormously. Our guide on how to photograph a bedbug is worth keeping behind the desk.
Working Round the Events Calendar
The first thing we ask when you ring is not how many rooms are affected but what the next few nights look like. A treatment day that lands on the night of a sold-out show costs you more than one on a quiet Tuesday, and there is usually a choice.
Heat takes the room out for most of a day and returns it once cooled, with no return visit, so it suits a room that must be back on sale for a busy night. Chemical costs less per visit, but the room is part of a course with a technician going back into it, which is harder to fit around a run of full weekends. We will tell you which fits your bookings rather than which costs less on paper. The detail of each is on the heat and chemical pages for the borough.

Weekend Guests and Their Luggage
Guests who come for one night and a show, or for a shopping weekend, arrive with a bag and leave with it the next day. The luggage rack, the space beside the bed and the bottom of the wardrobe are where a bag sits, and those are the places housekeeping can check in a few seconds when a room turns over.
After a report, tell the team to look at the luggage rack straps and the joints of the frame as well as the mattress seams. A room that turns over every night is rarely in the same state for long, so the first sign is often small.
The Rooms Around the Reported One
We ask to look at the rooms either side and above and below, and we plan those checks for the gaps in your occupancy: a late checkout, an early arrival, the hour between housekeeping and the next guest. That way the neighbouring rooms stay on sale while they are being looked at. Inspections in Hammersmith and Fulham start from £120 for a smaller property and are quoted by room for more.

Staff and the Paperwork
A hotel busy on show nights often runs on agency and part-time staff, so the instruction for a report has to be short enough for whoever is on the desk at midnight. We can give you a one-page note of what to do, and after every visit you get a written record of what was found, what was treated and what we recommend next.
Treatments start from £220 and hotel work is quoted on the rooms involved. Ring 0800 955 1018 with the room numbers and your bookings for the week. For staff accommodation or other commercial rooms, see commercial treatment in the borough.

Hotel Bedbug Treatment Hammersmith and Fulham — Questions
A guest has reported bedbugs and we are full tonight. What do we do?
Close the reported room if you can, do not move the guest into a room that is about to be resold, keep any bug they caught, and ring us. We plan the treatment around the nights you are booked.
Can the room be back on sale for a show night?
With heat, the room is back once it has cooled, with no return visit, so it can often be planned to finish before a busy night. Tell us the date and we will say whether it fits.
Do you need to look at the rooms next door?
We ask to, and we fit those checks into gaps between guests so the rooms stay on sale.
How is hotel work priced?
On the rooms involved. Treatments start from £220, and inspections from £120; the figure is given on the phone before anything is booked.
Can you give our night staff something to follow?
Yes. We can provide a short written note of what to do when a guest reports bites or a bug, so whoever is on duty handles it the same way.
