Start With a Map of Who Sleeps Where
Before you ring about a Southall house, draw it on a sheet of paper. Mark every bed, sofa bed and folding mattress, and write down who sleeps on each one, including relatives who stay some nights and children who move between beds. Circle any place where someone has woken with bites or where you have seen dark spotting.
That sheet tells us more than the number of bedrooms does. A three-bedroom house with a sofa bed in the front room and a mattress in the box room is really a five-bed job, and the quote should reflect that from the start.

Give One Person the Job of Running It
When everybody is partly responsible, nobody is. Pick one adult who speaks to us, keeps the list, and checks each room the evening before. It does not have to be the owner or the eldest; it should be whoever is at home most and comfortable on the phone.
In a busy Southall home, that person also makes sure older relatives and young children are looked after on the day. Somebody needs to take anyone who cannot easily be out of the house for several hours to a relative or a friend, with their medicines.
The Washing Is the Biggest Task
Seven beds of bedding, plus the clothes lying around them, is more than one machine can get through in an evening. Spread it out:
- Three or four days before. Wash and dry the clothes that are not needed this week, then seal them in bags and keep the bags in the room they came from.
- Two days before. Wash spare bedding, blankets and throws, and bag them the same way.
- The night before. Strip the beds everyone is sleeping in, bag the bedding in each room, and take it for a hot wash and a full dry. A launderette with big dryers saves a lot of time.
- On the day. Floors clear around every bed, furniture left where it stands.
Do not stack the bags in one room while you wait. That moves bedbugs from the rooms that have them to a room that may not.
Which Treatment Suits a Full House
Where several rooms are affected, heat treatment is often the easier route for a large family. It deals with eggs as well as adults and usually needs one visit, so you organise everyone once. It costs more than chemical. Chemical treatment can work well when the problem is limited to one or two rooms, but it means two or three visits about ten to fourteen days apart, with beds stripped and floors cleared each time.

Bedbug Control Southall — Questions
Do you need to treat every bed in the house?
Not always. We look at each sleeping place and treat the ones with signs and the ones close to them. The map you draw helps us decide.
Can relatives keep staying over during treatment?
It is best to pause visits until the house is treated, so bedbugs are not carried back to another home in a bag or a coat.
An older relative cannot leave the house easily. What then?
Tell us when you ring. We plan the order of rooms around them and tell you how long each room needs to be kept clear.
How much is it for a large house in Southall?
Treatments start at £220. With many rooms the final figure depends on how many need treating and whether it is heat or chemical, and we give it on the phone first.
Should we throw out the old mattresses?
Not before treatment unless we advise it. Carrying one through the house spreads them, and a new one gets reinfested from the frame.
