Tell Us at the Start
Mention it on the first call, not on the doorstep of your Greenford home. We need to know who has the condition, which room they sleep in, and whether they can easily be out of the house for a day. That changes which treatment we suggest and how the day is run.
If anyone is unsure how their condition might be affected, the person to ask is their GP or asthma nurse. We can tell you exactly what we will be doing; we cannot give medical advice.

How the Two Treatments Differ Here
Heat treatment raises the room to a temperature bedbugs cannot survive and uses no insecticide to do it, so nothing is left in the room once it has cooled. In a flat or a house that shares walls, we may put a light residual at the edges; if that is a concern, say so and we will talk it through. Heat usually needs one visit, which means one day of disruption rather than several.
Chemical treatment works by leaving a residual insecticide in seams, frames and skirtings, where it keeps working after we have gone. Rooms can be used again once the treated surfaces are dry. It costs less and usually means two or three visits, about ten to fourteen days apart.
Neither route is right for everyone. We will tell you what we recommend once we know the rooms involved and who uses them, and why.
On the Day
- The person with the condition out of the house while we work and until we say the room can be used, with a relative or friend if possible.
- Inhalers and medication with them, not left in the room. For heat, medication is on the removal list anyway.
- Pets out too, for the whole of a heat treatment and as we advise for chemical.
- Follow what we tell you about airing the rooms and when to go back in.
Preparation can stir up dust. If the person with the condition usually helps with the housework, let someone else do the clearing and vacuuming this time.
Write down the name of any inhaler or medicine that was in the room and put it with the person's things before we arrive. It is an easy item to forget in the rush, and on a heat day it must not stay in the room.
If Someone Cannot Leave
Some people cannot easily be out for a whole day. Tell us, and we will look at treating the rooms in an order that lets them stay in another part of the house, or at splitting the job. That can mean a longer overall timetable, but it avoids asking someone to sit in a car or a waiting room all day. Bedbug Control Greenford — Questions
Is heat treatment the better choice for someone with asthma?
It often suits, because it leaves no insecticide in the room. We decide on the whole situation, and the person's GP is the one to ask about their health.
How long before they can go back into the room?
After heat, once it has cooled. After chemical, once the treated surfaces are dry. Follow the instructions given on the day.
Can I tell you which products you will use?
Ask us. We will tell you what we plan to use so you can check with a GP or pharmacist if you want to.
What does treatment cost in Greenford?
Treatments start at £220; the figure depends on the number of rooms and heat or chemical, given on the phone before anything is booked.
What if someone reacts to the bites?
A pharmacist or GP can help with skin reactions. Call 999 for any signs of a severe allergic reaction.
